New hub provides timely information, state-level implementation insights, and practical resources

HERNDON, Va., Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — As states, institutions, accreditors, and employers across the country navigate the new opportunities created by the expansion of Pell Grants to short-term, workforce-focused training programs, the National Student Clearinghouse has launched an online Workforce Pell Resource Center to provide stakeholders with clear, reliable information and resources on program requirements and state implementation.

For the first time, Workforce Pell allows eligible students to use Pell Grants for certain short-term, workforce-focused training programs offered by accredited institutions. The goal is to increase access to affordable pathways that help learners gain skills and credentials aligned with workforce and economic needs.

Because implementation can vary by state, access to timely information on state-specific requirements and approaches will be critical to helping stakeholders prepare effectively and support learner success.

Highlights of the Workforce Pell Resource Center include:

• An interactive State Explorer that provides details on state readiness, approval processes, reporting requirements, and publicly available guidance.

• A guide to the Basics of Workforce Pell including the key policy, program, and implementation details stakeholders need to know as this new federal aid opportunity takes shape. This includes “What Stakeholders Should Be Doing Now,” a chart highlighting necessary steps for states for states, institutions, employers, and accreditors.

• A Resource Library providing federal updates, guidance, and other resources related to Workforce Pell implementation as it evolves.

• A glossary of Key Terms and Concepts to help stakeholders better understand the policies and requirements shaping Workforce Pell implementation.
